Interesting links from the past week:
Wedding Superstitions From Around the World – At my wedding, I most certainly had something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue on my person for the big event. This article describes some of the wedding superstitions from other countries around the world. I especially love how Finnish brides often carry a match down the aisle to “make sure their love keeps burning throughout their union”.
Coolest New Gear From the Olympics- I’m not sporty, but I do love the Olympics. I also know plenty of you are sporty, so check out the cool gear that Olympians are using, and which you can now purchase too. My favorite is the recharge suit that Michael Phelps supposedly wears to bed.
How to Bargain for Souvenirs in 6 Easy Steps- At some point, you’re bound to visit a country where bargaining is part of the shopping experience. Here’s a great tutorial on how to bargain effectively. I just wish I had found this a few weeks ago when my husband and I went on a souvenir-buying binge!
25 Great Things to Do with Your Spare Change- My husband always dumps the change from his wallet at the end of the day. Usually we save it up and then exchange it for a gift card at one of those little kiosks in the grocery store. Here are some other options for spending that extra cash. Obviously, my favorite idea is to use it to buy ice cream from the ice cream truck.
10 Wild and Wacko Lodgings- Have you ever spent the night in a treehouse hotel? What about in a lighthouse? This article highlights 10 American hotels that have something unique to offer visitors. I hope to stay in the Jailer’s Inn someday.

Love the wacky lodgings! Might have to try some out.
I like the spare change one. I took a LOT of pennies and some other change that we’d been saving for a couple years and got $45 back to spend at Amazon.com. I still save my pennies, but I usually end up spending the rest on a Coke or a dollar burger on my lunch hour. It keeps me from pulling a $20 from the ATM when I really only need a few dollars.
We use our spare change for amazon too– it’s perfect because you can get anything! I like the idea of using it to treat yourself at lunch, too.
We save our change too. We have a huge glass jug, I think it’s a really old apple juice jug, it’s probably 3 gallons. We keep it up in the closet and at the end of the day, we always empty our pocket change into it. It takes a long time to fill up, but when it’s full, we have 300-400$ and we take a mini weekend vacation! It’s great because you don’t miss the change everyday, but payout when it’s full is always fun!
Oh, that’s a good idea! I don’t know if I have enough patience to wait that long. We tend to cash in at $30 or $40!
Your wedding picture is lovely, so beautiful; enjoyed the post
