Links for Healthy Eaters, Trailing Spouses, and Other Wonderful People (13)

Here’s a selection of links from the past week that I found especially helpful.  Enjoy!

25 Powerful Reasons to Eat Bananas- Bananas are everywhere in Kenya, and I especially love the tiny, sweet ones, which are harder to find in the U.S.  Now I have 25 reasons to feel good when I eat one!

Get Your Deposit Back: A Move-Out Cleaning Checklist- If you move frequently, like we do, this comprehensive list is a great reminder of all the little things you should remember to clean before your move out. If you own your own place, then it’s a great list for spearheading a deep spring cleaning (or fall cleaning, as the case may be).

Judging a Book By Its Cover- A writer asks her 6-year-old daughter to explain what famous books are about, based on their covers.  My favorite:  Fifty Shades of Grey.  “On the cover is a very weird looking Zebra. The book is about a zebra that wears pants.”

52 Healthy, Packable Snacks- I LOVE snacks, but I tend to rely on packaged classics like granola bars and dried fruit.  Here’s a great list of packable snacks for school or work lunches (or for snack addicts like me).  I can’t wait to try the cheesy vegan popcorn (yes, that sounds like an oxymoron, but the popcorn looks delicious).  Bonus:  all the recipes are dairy-free.

Coolest Working Holiday Jobs- Need a sabbatical?  Want to travel? Check out these 10 jobs, and the valuable job search links, to help you find a job where you can support yourself while living in a foreign country.

How did you know I’ve been looking for healthy snack ideas? Awesome links! Thanks so much (one can only eat so many granola bars).

    Good work, McGee.

I feel like I want to use the website about the six year old’s interpretations in a mini-lesson about book shopping.

Yeah, I think it would be a good mini-lesson for how to make predictions, too. Some of her predictions, based on the covers, were so accurate!
