New Orleans Food highlights

IMG_0973

New Orleans is known for it’s food.  Here are all the delicious local treats we sampled last weekend:

An excessive lunch of red beans and rice, po’ boy sandwich, crawfish and grilled oysters gratin

Beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe Du Monde

a Snoball (shaved ice with flavoring and an optional condensed milk topper- we opted yes)

pistolette sandwich (cream cheese and crawfish filing, then deep fried) + my husband’s foot

alligator sausage po’ boy

Double fisting: chicken and cheddar cheese grits in my right hand; butter beans and rice with chicken and sausage in the left

If it looks like all we did in New Orleans was eat, that’s because it’s almost all we did… Eat and walk around the city.  And we happened to be in town during the French Quarter Festival, so there was plenty to sample.
